The Reasons for Respecting the Elderly

With the prosperity of materials and the improvement of people`s mental outlook, more people begin to stress the happiness and fulfillment of human beings. And with regard to it, the treatment and attention obtained by the senior citizens have become an important issue. In my opinion, we should respect the elderly for the following reasons.

First, the senior citizens have worked hard to create better living and working conditions for us. Without their toil and sweat, we would not have the happy life today. Second, no harmonious atmosphere can be established if we fail to esteem the seniors, who are relatively more vulnerable and weaker. Only when everyone feels respected and cared about, can the society attain a higher-level happiness.

As each of us will grow older and someday we need the help and reverence from the youngsters, we need to be the model for them and hold the right attitude to the senior citizens.
